Training

We offer training for athletes of all abilities, from casual runners looking to improve their fitness to elites chasing their next PB. Our Track and Field squad trains with Notts AC, a local running club, focusing on track events of 400m and below and field events, while our Distance and Cross-Country squads train for longer distances under the guidance of our coach, David Lisgo.

Track and Field

The Track and Field squad is aimed at anyone interested in training for track and field events. However, we advise any middle/long distance athletes to train with the Distance squad during the winter, and then move on to the track in the spring. During the autumn and winter, the squad concentrates on the Indoors season, and then the Outdoors season during the spring and summer.

The main training sessions for the track and field athletes are:
Monday: 19:00 - Harvey Hadden - High Jump
Tuesday: 18:30 - Harvey Hadden - Long Jump/Triple Jump
            19:30 - Harvey Hadden - Sprints
Thursday: 18:30 - Harvey Hadden - Long Jump/Triple Jump
             19:30 - Harvey Hadden - Sprints
Friday: 17:20 - David Ross Sports Village Studio 2 - Yoga
Saturday: TBC - TBC - Hills
Throwers are to get in contact with Mick Robinson on a case-by-case basis.

Distance and Cross-Country

The Distance and Cross-Country squad take part in a mixture of cross-country, road, and longer track events. Most of the University year is in the Cross-Country season, so this forms the largest focus for most of the squad, but some members choose to focus on the Indoors season. From March onwards, members compete in road events, such as our own Ed Prickett Memorial relays, and longer track events, such as BUCS outdoors.

The main training sessions for the distance squad are:
Monday: 18:30 - Portland Building - Tempo/Hills
Tuesday: 18:00 - Portland Building - Group Run
Wednesday: 15:00 - Highfields Sports Ground - Intervals
Thursday: 17:45 - Jubilee Sports Centre - Group Run
             18:30 - Lenton Centre - Circuits
Friday: 17:20 - David Ross Sports Village Studio 2 - Yoga
Saturday: 10:00 - Wollaton Park - Long Intervals
Sunday: 10:00 - Portland Building - Long Run
